Wake County Public School System alumnus Neal Fowler has distinguished himself as a successful entrepreneur and business leader with a vision for innovation and growth.

He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Liquidia Technologies, Inc. in Research Triangle Park, where he successfully led efforts to take the company public in July 2018 and create two successful spin-out companies.

Liquidia’s novel PRINT® technology is enabling more precise drug design, giving the pharmaceutical industry the ability to create drug particles uniformly and in a wide variety of compositions, size and shapes. Ultimately, this innovative process optimizes the performance of existing and new therapeutics, transforming the lives of patients across the globe.

Neal joined Liquidia in 2008 after seven successful years at Johnson & Johnson, where he served as President of Centocor, Inc., a multi-billion-dollar subsidiary focused on development and commercialization of industry leading biomedicines used in the treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases. At Centocor, he prepared the company for the launch for two potential blockbuster products and continued the company’s legacy of double-digit growth for their flagship product REMICADE® (infliximab). Prior to Centocor, Neal was President of Ortho-McNeil Neurologics Inc. and Vice President of the central nervous system franchise at Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceuticals. Prior to his success at Johnson & Johnson, Neal served thirteen years at Eli Lilly and Company, holding a variety of management positions of increasing responsibility in the pharmaceutical and medical device divisions.

A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Neal Fowler is a proud graduate of Frances Lacy Elementary, LeRoy Martin Junior High School, and Needham Broughton High School. Throughout his career, Neal has made it a priority to connect his companies with teachers in Wake County classrooms to provide valuable support as they prepare the next generation of scientists and engineers. He received a B.S. degree in Pharmacy and an M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
