It’s hard to believe we are already knee deep in plans for Stars of Education. Our annual gala is just five months away.
For the first time ever, a plated dinner will complement our evening to celebrate those who form the backbone of education in our community.
You can help WakeEd find this year’s education stars by nominating someone for the Wake county Public School System Hall of Fame or the Vernon Malone Friend of Education award. The Hall of Fame offers six categories for nomination – Education, Business, Arts, Athletics, Community, and Entrepreneurship. The honorees are outstanding educators, alumni and community leaders who throughout their lives have either deeply impacted WCPSS or, as an alumnus, dramatically added to the quality of life in our city, state or nation.
The Vernon Malone Friend of Education Award is given to someone who has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to public education and shares the personal qualities of the late Senator Vernon Malone, who passed away in 2009. This award is meant to honor those who have spent a career outside of education and yet have worked tirelessly to make our public schools successful.
